 On the first of December we had a lovely visit from Miguel Sánchez´s parents.The gave us a brilliant speech about their family and their daily routines.

El primer día de Diciembre tuvimos la suerte de contar con los padres de Miguel Sánchez.Nacho y Mª José nos deleitaron con una preciosa presentación sobre su familia.La pequeña Sofía estaba muy a gusto en la clase.Fueron unos momentos mágicos que los niños no olvidaran.

On the 21st of November we talked in the class about the Children rights and we sang a song in the Sporthall.

El día 21 de Noviembre hemos celebrado el Día universal del Niño. Antes ya habíamos hablado de cuales eran los derechos del niño y como vivian en otros países.Nos juntamos todos en el pabellón para leer y recordar los derechos y finalizamos con la canción de UNICEF.(Azul,blanco o negro...) seguro que os suena.

MAGOSTO 2011

On the 18th of November after lunch ther was a "Chestnut party" also called MAGOSTO here in Galicia.The Children made their own hats and played in the playground with Koskillas.

El 18 de Noviembre después de la comida comenzó el Magosto.Los niños jugaron con Koskillas en el Patio y todos querían más castañas asadas.Estaban sabrosas y calentitas.

After we had seen the "Three little pigs" we had our packed lunch.It was brilliant eating with the sunshine on our face!

Después de la obra tomamos nuestra comida al estilo "picnic".Fue un día maravilloso,lo pasamos muy bien.

We dramatized the /AI/ story, all the children were suddenly sick in the classroom.

HAPPY SUMMER 2011

We spent 15 days long having fun.We started with pirates, this week we are artists and we painted a lot, we saw Paul Klee and Miró´s work.

Ya han pasado unos 15 días de diversión. Hemos aprendido a saber más de los piratas,esta semana hemos sido artistas y visto las obras de Paul KLee y Miró.....ahí van unas fotos....

Estos dias estoy preparando el curso de verano HAPPY SUMMER y también poniéndome en forma....ya que voy hacer DEPORTE con los chicos de SUMMER FUN.Sin embargo, no puedo pasar por mi clase, pues aún tengo muy presente, cuando hablaban entre ellos o cuando se ponían a leer en la READING CORNER. CHICOS/AS ¡FELICIDADES! ha sido un curso muy bueno y os quiero dar las GRACIAS a todos por haber compartido esta experiencia.También agradecer la colaboración de los padres y la atención de todo el equipo de INFANTIL.¡Hasta Pronto!

Today we had a lovely trip to the park of Meis.The children played and enjoyed together.Later we had our packed lunch and discovered the waterwheels.They were beautiful!

Hoy hemos visitado el parque de Meis.Los niños se lo pasaron genial: jugaron,comieron y descubrieron los molinos y todo el paisaje de la zona.

PAINTING WITH WATERCOLOURS!

We painted with watercolours different people fishing, they enjoyed and we reviewed our vocabulary related with the water unit.

Hemos pintado con acuarelas estos últimos días, debían pintar a gente pescando y lo pasaron muy bien y depaso, revisamos el vocabulario de la unidad del agua.

Our students made word bubbles! They wrote and painted all their favourite words from our WATER UNIT.They enjoyed and had fun doing it!

Nuestros alumnos hicieron con sus palabras favoritas de la unidad del AGUA unas burbujas.¡Lo pasaron genial!

Today we reached the sky! We watched all the big clouds and they were grey.All the studendts were pointing to them and thought it could rain.

¡Hoy hemos tocado el cielo! Estuvimos observando y explorando las nubes,estaban muy cerca de las montañas y pensabamos que iba a llover,pero lo que descubrimos fue que el río Lerez había cambiado de color.El agua ya no era azul, era de un color verdoso y blanco.

We are finishing our schoolyear and this last week we ´ve sent some artwork.In the picture you can see a lovely sailboat they made with teacher Rosana.

Esta acabando el curso y ya hemos empezado a enviar los trabajos artísticos hechos por los niños.En la foto se puede ver el maravilloso barco que hicieron con la Profe Rosana.

This week we will sing this song.It will bring back old memories.

Esta semana vamos a ver esta canción.Seguro que a muchos padres os traerá buenas sensaciones.Yo se la dedico a mis compañeras de infantil,que están trabajando mucho para que todos los niños estén bien atendidos.

Seguro que os llamó la atención las esculturas que hicieron vuestros hijos.Tanto nos gustó, yo me incluyo, que estos elementos, llamados PLAYMAIS, los he puesto, aunque sea solo esta semana, como fondo del blog.Se necesita AGUA, para pegar y son comestibles.

It floats! 

¡Flota! los alumnos volvieron a experimentar y estuvieron indagando,....y eso que hacía un calor insoportable,las características de la palstilina y el agua.

Esta semana nos vino a visitar los alumnos de 4º ESO, para exponer sus proyectos sobre los medios de transporte.Los alumnos quedaron impresionados, ya que como dijo el Profe Agustín "Esto no lo podeís ver en la Televisión,...es único".

Finally we did it! The paper clip was floating and the class could explore the power of water.

¡Lo Conseguimos! Después de mucho tiempo conseguimos que pudiese flotar el clip en el vaso del agua.

Para los PADRES que quieran practicar los sonidos de JOLLY PHONICS, he puesto este enlace en la parte de arriba, para que puedan bajar este archivo (el primero de la sección 1 step).Una vez bajado, dar en ejecutar y después escoger el dibujo de un niño con la mano en la oreja.La ventaja es que el alumno podra repasar los sonidos, haciendo CLIC en cada uno.Cada vez que se haga CLIC,se podá escuchar el sonido simultáneamente.¡Suerte! ¡Ánimo!

ARTS AND CRAFTS: La parte artística no podía faltar....hemos pintado con rotulador y después aguado con pincel un paraguas sobre papel de seda.Disfrutaron mucho.

EXPERIMENTO:Hemos hecho un experimento con palillos y con agua.Con cinco palillos doblados por la mitad sin romper se puede hacer una estrella marina.Al principio no lo entendían,después pensaban que era magia...unos palillos que se mueven solos....más tarde les conté el secreto.

Durante estas semanas hemos visitado la biblioteca del Colegio para explorar e indagar sobre EL AGUA.Nunca estvieron tan callados.Se dieron cuenta que el agua es más importante de lo que pensaban.

Llevamos ya dos semanas muy intensas con la unidad del AGUA.Los alumnos mostraron saber más de lo que pensaban,ya que este líquido tan familiar les gusta mucho.Los padres nos están trayendo recortes y fotos sobre el tema y nos ayudan a plantear nuevos enfoques.En la foto hemos observado diferentes tipos de nubes y hemos hablado del ciclo del agua.



Our School, SEK-Atlántico from Poio, Pontevedra was this Saturday, the 9th of April OPEN.Parents,students,teachers and more visitors enjoyed all the activities and they had the chance to see our colourful display in the classrooms.

The Easter egg story:

These days we are reaching our easter holidays.Well, in the beginning, we  must remember that the egg has been a symbol of creation for hundreds of years. Keeping this in mind will help you to understand why so many people valued the egg throughout the ages.

In Pagan times the egg represented the rebirth of the earth, which allowed people to become hopeful of spring after a long winter. With the emergence of spring, the earth burst forth and was reborn, just as an egg bursts forth with new life.

The term Easter comes from Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring, to whom the month of April was dedicated. So, along with the spring equinox and spring festivals, people started exchanging eggs as a symbol of creation, new-life, and a resurrection of nature after winter.

With the coming of Christianity, the Easter egg became a religious symbol. The egg changed from representing nature’s rebirth to the rebirth of man. The hatching Easter chick became a symbol of the tomb from which Jesus emerged.

By the Middle Ages decorating and coloring eggs for Easter became the custom in England. The wealthy covered eggs in gold, while the peasants dyed theirs with flowers and herbs.

By the 17th century people started exchanging egg-shaped toys and eventually, by the 19th century, the first chocolate eggs were made in Europe. During this time, Peter Carl Faberge, a well-known goldsmith created the most famous decorated Easter eggs. He was hired by Russian Czar Alexander to make a special Easter gift for his wife. These Faberge eggs had an outside shell of platinum and enameled white which opened to reveal a smaller gold egg. The smaller egg then opened to show a golden chicken and a jeweled replica of the Imperial crown. Fifty-seven of these eggs were made in all.

Bet you never thought there were so many meanings for a simple egg. Well, now you know why the egg is such an important symbol for the Easter holiday and for spring.
